HUT through the years
Mar. 3 1956 Decree No 147/ND by the Minister of Education for the establishment of five universities, Hanoi University of Technology being one of them.
Oct. 15 1956 Opening ceremony for the first intake of 1,000 students in 14 fields of majors in 4 interdisciplinary faculties: Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical and Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering.
Jan. 1 1958 Visit by President Ho Chi Minh to the university. He said: " Education should be linked with production, theory should go with practice, learning should be combined with practical work, school has to be linked with society".
Jun. 17 1960 Ground Breaking for the new campus construction, supported by the former USSR.
Oct. 17 1960 Graduation Ceremony for the first 633 graduates.
Nov. 7 1965 Opening Ceremony of the new campus.
1966 Faculty of Civil Engineering and Faculty of Mining and Geology separated to form the university and merging the departments of textile engineering and food engineering.
1975 Mobilisation of 180 cadres from teaching and management staff to work in the newly established institutions in the South such as: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Da Nang University of Technology, Thu Duc Technical Pedagogical College and Tay Nguyen University.
1976 Commencement of postgraduate training.
Feb. 13 1976 The first presentation of PhD. thesis (former system).
1977 Reintegration of the College of Light Industry into the university.
Jan. 6 1984 The first presentation of Dr.Sc. thesis (former system).
Oct. 15 1986 Award of the second rank Order of Independence.
1992 Commencement of highly qualified technician training.
Oct. 15 1996 Award of the first rank Order of Independence.
Oct. 14 2000 Award of Labor Hero.
Oct. 8 2001 Award of Ho Chi Minh Order.
